As an initiative from
the Office of the President , South Asian University, a one day art camp was organized
at SAU premises on 08th February 2015. For logistical purposes, this
initiative was coordinated by the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Department
of Sociology in conjunction with the Hostel Fest 2015.
The camp consisted of
basic instruction and demonstration on art-making with charcoal, acrylic and ‘collage.’
Instruction was offered by Dr Ruchika Wason Singh from the College of Art, Delhi who also supervised the event assisted by Mr Subrata Das, a recent graduate from the same college.
In addition to MA and
Mphil/PhD students from SAU, students from Delhi School of Art and Jamia Milia
Islamia also participated in the event.
Dr Dev Pathak from the
Department of Sociology at SAU coordinated
the event while logistical support was offered by Mr. Samson George, Ms. Jyoti
Chawla and Mr Aman Kumar from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mr Ratan Roy
from the Mphil/PhD program in Sociology.
Completed works selected
by a panel of judges will be displayed at the refurbished SAU gallery on the
ground floor and later will constitute a part of the permanent collection of
the university. In addition, selected works will also receive awards of recognition.
